Welcome and Thank You…

…for your interest in our first annual festival of new works for New Art City Theatre, FESTIVAL ’24!

If you haven’t yet reserved your seats for the four festival readings, click this link and put your name on our lists. You won’t want to miss a thing!

Our method is simple, we put a call out to every writer in the nation, asking them to send us new work that hasn’t yet been produced. Then, to remove any bias, we screen those projects blind. We have no idea whose script we’re reading until final selections are made. This ensures we’re picking scripts based on their merit, regardless of who the writer is. This year we had 175 submissions. It was a big job winnowing down that stack of scripts and scores, but with the help of 20-plus volunteers who gave generously of their time, we did it. The four shows we present at this festival are the result of that search.

A Word in Support of The Arts

We want to acknowledge the professional performing arts organizations on the Central Coast that have paved the way for emerging companies like New Art City Theatre; 5-Star Theatricals, Ensemble Theater Company, Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, New West Symphony, The Ojai Music Festival, Rubicon Theatre Company, and The Ventura Music Festival. If you don’t yet support these fine groups, we encourage you to find them online and buy a ticket to see their work!
